The Name of The King
The Agents of Ascension
The Agents of Ascension are the dominant thieves guild in High Pengard. They operate out of, Hearthfire, a shop in the Low Town. Their name is a subtle reference to the general aspirations of their clientele, namely to “ascend” into the society of High Town and rise above their station.
The face of their organization is Doli Cotton, a middle-aged halfling with glorious sideburns and a buttery baritone speaking voice. They are known as being incredibly thorough in their preparations, and while there might be smaller guilds who will work faster, nobody enjoys their record of success like the Agents of Ascension. Beyond mere burglary and pickpocketing (which they will happily do), they are most renowned for their mastery over the art of disguise, impersonation, espionage and infiltration of organizations, particularly of tightly monitored “closed door” societies. Their symbol is a mask with the ties rising up behind it, with the mask representing their ability to conceal themselves and hide their identities, and the rising ties representing their ability to affect those above them.
